Art nouveau fireplace
Exquisite, for sale is this beautiful, fully restored antique art nouveau cast iron fireplace, from a period property from the late Edwardian period.
It was likely cast between 1900- 1910 and is a wonderful example of British architectural heritage which would typically have taken pride of place in an upstairs bedroom or small drawing room. It is made of solid cast iron in lovely condition.
The ironwork is rich, with a splendid nouveau motif over the opening, giving hints of the Mackintosh design style. The richly decorative ironwork continues around the body, which is elegantly finished off with a set of flush bars.
During restoration we retained the original fire stone, mantle, bars and grate. We added a small decorative nouveau ash cover at the bottom, and made a flue damper to finish it off. The final result looks superb.
It has discreet mounting lugs on the top of the body for simple and safe installation with a couple of strong screws.
Measurements approx:
98cm high (bottom to top of mantle)
76cm wide at mantle
12.5cm deep at mantle
60.5cm wide at body, widening to 70cm at lugs
Inner void 61cm high
Inner void 30cm wide
In order to fit the rear section into your chimney breast the hole in your wall needs to be at least 37cm wide, 62cm high and 18cm deep.
